Brainfish MCP — Use Brainfish Inside Claude
Brainfish MCP — Use Brainfish Inside Claude
Ask Claude what's missing from your help center. Fix it in the same chat.
Brainfish MCP connects Claude directly to your knowledge base. Search it, read from it, draft into it, audit it — all from inside the AI assistant your team already uses. No copy-pasting. No context-switching. No starting from scratch every time you open a new tab.
What You Can Do
- Find gaps — ask Claude what's missing from your help center before customers find out
- Draft articles — turn a meeting note, Slack thread, or product brief into a published article without leaving Claude
- Audit your KB — inventory your workspace, spot duplicates, and batch-flag stale content in a single conversation
- Run coverage tests — fire test questions at your knowledge base and identify weak spots before customers do
- Update articles — fix outdated content and push changes back to Brainfish from inside Claude
Requirements
- A Brainfish account with admin access
- A Brainfish API token (Settings → API Tokens) — or authenticate via OAuth directly in Claude.ai (under 60 seconds)
- One of: Claude Desktop, Claude.ai, Cursor, or VS Code with MCP extension
Setup
Option 1: Claude.ai (OAuth — fastest)
- In Claude.ai, go to Settings → Integrations
- Search for Brainfish and click Connect
- Authenticate with your Brainfish account — done in under 60 seconds
Option 2: Claude Desktop / Cursor / VS Code (JSON config)
Step 1: Get your Brainfish API token from Settings → API Tokens
Step 2: Add the following to your claude_desktop_config.json:
{
"mcpServers": {
"brainfish": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "@brainfish-ai/mcp"],
"env": {
"BRAINFISH_API_TOKEN": "your-api-token-here"
}
}
}
}
Step 3: Restart Claude Desktop and start a conversation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be a developer to use this? No. Claude.ai OAuth setup takes under 60 seconds with no config files. The JSON config option requires editing a text file, but day-to-day use is entirely conversational.
What can the MCP read and write? It can search, retrieve, create, and update documents in your Brainfish knowledge base. An Agent Key is required for answer generation and follow-up tools.
Is my knowledge base data sent to Claude? Only content you explicitly request in your conversation is retrieved and sent to Claude. Brainfish does not proactively push your data anywhere.
How is this different from just copying articles into Claude? Context resets every time you close a tab. With MCP, Claude has persistent, searchable access to your entire knowledge base — not just what you paste in.
