# Generate articles from Slack threads with @Brainfish

## Overview
Use the **@Brainfish** Slack command to turn useful Slack threads into **draft knowledge base articles**. Brainfish analyzes the full thread context, generates a structured draft, and places it into your Brainfish review queue—so you don’t have to manually recreate documentation from existing conversations.

## When to Use This
Use @Brainfish article generation when:
- A Slack thread contains a helpful **Q&A**, troubleshooting steps, or an explanation worth preserving.
- Your team answers a question in Slack that is likely to be asked again.
- Product feedback or support channels contain repeatable guidance you want searchable in your knowledge base.

## Prerequisites
- Brainfish is connected to Slack.
- The **Brainfish bot is invited to the channel** where the thread exists.
- The feature is enabled for your Brainfish account (see [Enabling This Feature](#enabling-this-feature)).

## How to Create an Article from a Slack Thread
### 1) Tag @Brainfish in the Thread
In the relevant Slack thread or conversation, mention **`@Brainfish`** and request article creation.

Examples:
- `@Brainfish create an article from this thread`
- `@Brainfish create knowledge from this`

### 2) Wait for Processing
- Brainfish analyzes the **entire thread** to extract key information and structure it into an article draft.
- Processing typically takes **30 seconds to a few minutes**.
- You can navigate away—processing continues in the background.

### 3) Find the Generated Draft in Brainfish
The draft will appear in your Brainfish dashboard under the review queue:
- Go to **Knowledge → Articles → Knowledge waiting for your review**
- Look for the newly generated draft from Slack

> Drafts are **not auto-published**. They require manual review before going live.

### 4) Review, Edit, and Publish
- Review the content for accuracy, clarity, and completeness.
- Edit the draft as needed.
- Click **Accept** to publish it to your knowledge base.

Once accepted, the article becomes:
- **Searchable** in your knowledge base
- Available for use by your **AI agents**
