# Get Started with Brainfish

## What Brainfish is

Brainfish is the knowledge layer between your sources of truth and every surface your customers and agents touch. We make sure every answer — from our agents, yours, or a partner's — comes from content your team has integrated, reviewed, segmented, and signed off on.

## The five pillars

* **Integrate** — continuously sync from Confluence, Notion, Zendesk, Helpscout, Intercom, Freshdesk, HelpJuice, Readme, your website, Salesforce, Slack, GitHub, HubSpot CSV, and OpenAPI.
* **Suggest** — turn real customer signals (Slack threads, session replays, tickets, videos, GitHub PRs) into reviewed draft articles.
* **Manage** — the Managed CMS gives you drafts, review workflow, roles, and audit. You keep editorial control.
* **Segment** — tailor answers by region, audience, team, or URL.
* **Distribute** — deploy one knowledge layer to the web widget, the hosted help center, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Chrome, Salesforce, and human hand-offs.

## Getting started

1. **Connect a source.** Open **Knowledge → External Data** and connect your website, Confluence, Notion, or another supported source. Brainfish syncs it automatically.
2. **Review and publish an article.** Open **Knowledge → Articles**, review the content pulled in from your source, and publish.
3. **Create and embed an agent.** Go to **Distribution → Agents**, create a web agent, and copy the embed snippet into your site.
4. **Ask a real question.** Reload your page and ask the agent something only answerable from the article you just published — the response will cite that article.

## Admin interface

Admins, editors, reviewers, and viewers manage the self-service experience from the left-hand navigation: **Dashboard, Analytics, Knowledge, and Distribution**. See [Getting Started: Navigating the Brainfish Platform](/articles/getting-started-navigating-the-brainfish-platform-hJOtrJMbO8) for the full tour.

## Analytics

Brainfish analytics shows you:

1. **What users are asking** — the questions customers and agents are searching for.
2. **Answer rate** — how many questions receive an AI answer, and where answers fall short.
3. **Themes and sessions** — clustered topics, session replays, and where content is failing.
4. **Article performance** — which articles are cited and which are getting stale.

## FAQ

**Q: What is Brainfish?** A: Brainfish is the knowledge substrate beneath your AI agents. We integrate, suggest, manage, segment, and distribute your knowledge across every channel your customers and agents use. See [What is Brainfish](/articles/what-is-brainfish-cZa1rljZag) for the full framing.

**Q: Is Brainfish a chatbot?** A: No. Brainfish powers any agent — ours, yours, or a partner's. The knowledge layer is the product. Every answer is grounded, cited, and traceable to a specific approved article.

**Q: Can Brainfish hand off to a human?** A: Yes. Use **Actions** to surface dynamic buttons — open live chat, submit a ticket, or start an email — once an answer is delivered.

**Q: Can Brainfish help me write content?** A: Yes. Brainfish can draft and expand articles from real customer signals (Slack threads, tickets, session replays, videos, GitHub PRs), and you approve them before they go live. This is the **Suggest** pillar.

**Q: Do you support languages other than English?** A: Yes — 100+ languages for real-time answers, 19 admin platform languages, and per-region content segmentation. See [Language and Localization Support](/articles/language-and-localization-support-fAyWW8mwmq).
