How Guidance Nudges Work in Brainfish
1min read
Overview
Guidance Nudges are personalized in-product notifications that proactively guide users to self-service resources or important information throughout their customer journey.
What Nudges Do
Nudges help you communicate with users inside your product to:
- Announce new features
- Provide contextual help
- Direct users to specific resources (including outage notifications)
How Nudges Work
1) Proactive communication
Configure nudges to appear in-product so users see timely guidance without needing to search for it.
2) Targeted messaging (audience conditions)
Show nudges only to specific user segments by applying conditions, such as:
- New users
- Users on a specific subscription plan
- Users visiting particular pages
3) Actionable guidance with a CTA
Add a Call to Action (CTA) link to drive users to the next best step, such as:
- A help article
- Another relevant product area
4) Configurable display timing and placement
Control when and where nudges appear by configuring:
- The date and time the nudge becomes visible
- The in-product location where the nudge is displayed
5) Auto-dismissal behavior
For informational nudges that don’t require immediate action:
- Enable auto-dismiss to hide the nudge after 10 seconds if the user doesn’t interact.
- If auto-dismiss is not enabled, users must manually dismiss the nudge.
Manage and Measure Nudges
Use the Nudges section in the Brainfish platform to:
- Create and manage nudges
- Monitor performance metrics, including:
- Views
- Clicks
- Dismissals
