# How to Connect Confluence as an External Data Source in Brainfish

## Overview

This article explains how to integrate Confluence with Brainfish as an external data source so you can import and automatically sync your Confluence content into Brainfish.

## Prerequisites

Before connecting Confluence to Brainfish, ensure you have:

* Access to the Brainfish **Knowledge** dashboard
* A Confluence account with permissions to access the spaces and pages you want to sync
* The following Confluence authentication details:
  * Integration name (to label the connection in Brainfish)
  * Confluence domain
  * Atlassian Account Email
  * API token

## Instructions

### 1. Open the Knowledge Dashboard

1. Sign in to Brainfish.
2. Navigate to the **Knowledge** **> External Data** page.

### 2. Start Connecting a Data Source

1. Click **+ Source**.
2. From the list of available data sources, select **Confluence**.

### 3. Enter Confluence Authentication Details

1. In the Confluence integration form, provide the required details:
   * **Integration name**: Enter a descriptive name for this Confluence connection.
   * **Domain**: Enter your Confluence domain.
   * **Atlassian Account Email**: Enter the email address associated with the Atlassian account used for the integration.
   * **API token**: Enter a valid Confluence API token for the account.
2. Verify that all values are correct and that the account has access to the spaces and pages you plan to sync.

### 4. Configure Sync Settings

1. Choose the Confluence content to sync by selecting specific:
   * Spaces
   * Pages
   * Folders (if applicable)
2. Review the selection to ensure only the intended content is included.

### 5. Enable Automatic Sync

1. Toggle **Enable Daily Sync** to **On** to keep content automatically updated from Confluence.

> **Recommendation:** Enabling Daily Sync ensures that changes in Confluence are regularly reflected in Brainfish without manual intervention.

### 6. Finalize the Connection

1. Click **+ Add Source** to create the Confluence integration.
2. Wait for the initial sync to complete. Sync time depends on the volume of content.

## Verification

To confirm that Confluence is successfully connected:

1. In the Brainfish **Knowledge** dashboard, verify that the new Confluence source appears in the list of data sources.
2. Check that selected Confluence spaces/pages are visible as imported content in Brainfish.
3. After the first scheduled daily sync, confirm that updates made in Confluence appear in Brainfish.

## Troubleshooting

* **Authentication errors**
  * Confirm that the domain, Atlassian Account Email, and API token are correct.
  * Ensure the Confluence account has permission to access the selected spaces and pages.
* **Missing spaces or pages**
  * Reopen the Confluence data source settings and verify your sync selections.
  * Confirm the Confluence account has access to those spaces/pages.
* **Sync not updating**
  * Verify that **Enable Daily Sync** is turned on.
  * Check the integration status in the Brainfish Knowledge dashboard.

If issues persist, contact Brainfish support and include details of the Confluence domain, integration name, and any error messages.
