# How to embed videos in articles

Embed video content directly in Brainfish articles to surface it in the Help Center, in the Managed CMS preview, and in any widget that surfaces the article.

There are two video features in Brainfish — make sure you use the right one:

| Feature | What it does | Read more |
|---|---|---|
| **Embedded videos in an article** *(this article)* | Manually attach an MP4 to a specific article so it renders inline. | Below. |
| **Generate articles from videos** | Upload a video and let Brainfish auto-draft one or more articles from it, with snippets cued to the relevant sections. | [Generate, Review, and Publish Knowledge Base Article Suggestions](/articles/generate-review-and-publish-knowledge-base-article-suggestions-from-videos-session-replays-slack-and-apis-wowQ0LdleP) |

## Enable embedded videos

1. Open **Settings**.
2. Find the **Display article videos** toggle and enable it.

> Note: The Search Configuration section has been removed from Settings. Look for the Display article videos toggle in your current settings menu.

## Embed a video in an article

1. Open the article in the editor.
2. On an empty line, type `/` (or click the `+` icon) to open the block menu.
3. Pick **Video** from the menu (or type `video` to filter the menu down).
4. Drag-and-drop your MP4 onto the block, or click to browse.

The video uploads to Brainfish's attachment storage and renders inline once the upload completes.

## Limits

| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
| Supported format | MP4 |
| Maximum file size (per video) | **500 MB** |
| Maximum video duration *for article generation* | 15 minutes (see the article-generation guide linked above) |

If your video exceeds 500 MB, compress it before uploading. There's no duration limit on **embedded** videos (only on auto-generation videos), but very long files take noticeably longer to upload.

## Retention

By default, video uploads are retained for **120 hours** before being cleaned up. Reach out to your account team if you need a longer retention window for a specific workspace.
