Adding Additional Teams Channels to an Agent
1min read
Summary
This article outlines the process of adding multiple Microsoft Teams channels to a single Brainfish agent. It covers selecting existing channels, creating new channels in Teams for use with the agent, and handling multiple workspaces.
When to Use This
Follow these steps when you have already connected an agent to Teams but want to expand its availability to other channels, or when you have created a new channel in Teams that you want to link to your agent.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Initiate Channel Connection: In the Teams Agent settings, click the Connect to Channel button.
- Select a Channel: A list of available channels from your integrated Teams workspace will appear. Select the channel you wish to add.
- Creating a New Channel (if needed):
- If the channel you want doesn't exist, go to Microsoft Teams and create a new channel.
- Important: Ensure you select Standard as the channel type. Private channels are currently not supported.
- Once created, return to the Brainfish interface and refresh the page or reload the channel list to see the new channel.
- Connect the Agent: Select the newly created channel from the list and confirm the connection. If prompted, select the specific agent you wish to link.
- Verify the Link: The new channel will appear in your "Connected" list. Go to Teams, tag the bot in the new channel, and ask a question to ensure it is responding correctly.
Common Questions
Can I connect channels from different workspaces? Yes. If your integration spans multiple workspaces, the "Add channel" modal will allow you to select the specific workspace and then the relevant channel within it.
