This guide explains how to set up and manage the integration between Brainfish and Microsoft Teams. It covers creating a Teams agent, connecting it to your Teams environment, selecting the correct workspace and channel, configuring knowledge filtering and agent behavior, and verifying the connection by interacting with the bot.

Use this guide when you want to enable your Microsoft Teams users to interact with a Brainfish agent directly from their Teams channels, or when you need to manage existing connections and channels.

## Prerequisites

- Access to Brainfish with permission to create agents
- A Microsoft Teams account with access to the workspace and channel you want to connect

## Step-by-Step Instructions

1. **Create a New Agent**: In Brainfish, navigate to the **Agents** tab/section and click **Create new agent**. Name it (e.g., "Teams Agent") and provide a description if desired.
2. **Select Teams Integration**: Choose **Teams** (Microsoft Teams) to start the setup for this integration.
3. **Connect to Teams**:
   - If you haven't installed the app in Teams yet, follow the on-screen instructions to download the package and side-load it into your Teams workspace.
   - Once the app is installed in Teams, return to Brainfish and click **Connect**.
4. **Sign in and authorize**: When prompted, sign in to your **Microsoft Teams** account and authorize the connection.
5. **Choose where to connect**: Select the **workspace** and **channel** you want the agent to connect to.
6. **Confirm the link**: The system may check for existing agents. Select the agent you just created (if prompted) and confirm the connection.
7. **Configure agent settings (recommended)**: Open the agent’s **Agent Settings** page and configure as needed:
   - **Knowledge filters** (choose what knowledge the agent can use)
   - **Agent behavior** (adjust how the agent responds and operates)

## Verification

- Confirm the Teams agent shows as **Connected** in Brainfish.
- Verify the selected **workspace** and **channel** are set correctly in the agent configuration.
- The connected Teams channel should appear in the list with a status of "Connected".
- A confirmation message may also appear in the Teams channel itself.

## Key Points

- **Private Channels**: Currently, the bot only supports "Standard" (shared) channels. Private channels are not supported.
- **Multiple Workspaces**: If you have multiple Brainfish workspaces, the interface will allow you to select which workspace a channel belongs to when adding connections.
- **Bot Tagging**: Users must tag the bot handle in their message for the agent to respond.

## Troubleshooting

### I don’t see the workspace or channel I expect

- Ensure your Microsoft Teams account has access to the workspace/team and channel.
- If your organization uses multiple tenants/accounts, confirm you selected the correct tenant/account during sign-in.

### The bot doesn’t respond

- Confirm the channel is listed as **Connected** in Brainfish.
- Verify you are tagging the bot handle in your message (for example, `@Brainfish-Dev`).
